Neighborhood Center Jamaica Plain, Boston, Ma |
| JP Center is Boston’s first
new neighborhood supermarket retail center to be built in the last
20 years. The project combines a 46,660 sf. supermarket with a 26,800
sf. health center to add $6 million of construction to the existing
JP Plaza retail development. Built on the site of the former Hyde
Shoe Factory, this project is a symbol of an economic renaissance.
Former factory smoke stack has been replaced by a new clock tower,
bringing a new focus to the site. Layers of masonry and color were
used to break up the mass of the supermarket and reflect the architecture
of the new health center. Increasing the sense of new investment
in the area. JP Center’s architecture adopts the detail, complexity
and richness of its surrounding neighborhood.
