MBTA Southwest Corridor Orange Line Retail Spaces Boston, Ma |
| During construction in the Southwest
Corridor stations, 30 retail shell spaces were introduced in the
eight new stations. While retail space was allocated on a conceptual
level, the spaces lacked a clear retail concept or intent. Primary
Group worked with the MBTA and the master lessor to accommodate
30 individual tenants in the stations, to create a dynamic, retail-oriented
environment that included kiosks and pushcarts. Tenant standards
were created and issues ranging from electrical power distribution
to signage were addressed at each location. Ridership and traffic
flow patterns were studied to assure that retail elements were sited
correctly. Two of the eight stations were multi-modal and incorporated
bus connections with rail and subway.
