| Primary Group, in association with
HNTB, designed a 355 ft, covered pedestrian link that includes 255-ft
canopied walkway and a 100 ft extension to the bus terminal. The
design is a cost-effective solution to retro-fitting existing structures
to make them more accessible to a larger cross-section of users.
The canopied walkway employs translucent fiberglass panels to protect users from wind, rain and snow while being able to maximize the benefit of natural light and maintain visibility level that enhance user security. The panels are hung from a steel-tube truss system that spans between a series of structural “wickets” that run along the entire length of the link. The bus terminal extension portion of the link is designed as an enclosed glass structure, consistent with the existing bus terminal, and houses a new stairway, escalator, elevator and handicap access ramp. |
